OUR HISTORY, OUR NOW! AND OUR FUTURE
The Peace NOW! Spirit Music Festival began in the fall of 2010 simply as a venue for the area's enormous wealth of Inspirational singers to showcase their talents in one place, at one time, for a common cause - Peace NOW!
But from the beginning we knew this Festival had to be about much more than music....it needed to stand for something much larger....it had to live up to its name.
So that's why, in 2010, in honor of South Africa's emergence as a symbol of peace during its hosting of the World Cup, the Peace NOW! Spirit Music Festival supported the Nelson Mandella Children's Fund in its effort to raise the standard of living and education of its youngest, most vulnerable citizens.
The response to that first year's Festival was overwhelming as requests to perform came in from all over the country.
Yet, as wonderful and deserving as the Nelson Madella Children's Fund is, we felt called to bring our vision closer to home.
That's why, in 2011, the Peace NOW! Spirit Music Festival partnered with CAST, the Coalition to Abolish Slavery and Trafficking.
Human trafficking is a huge, but mostly hidden issue in the United States; particularly in the Southern California area. The modern-day slave trade crosses all ethnic and religious boundaries and is no respecter of gender or age.
This is a real and devastating problem in our midst and the Peace NOW! Spirit Music Festival is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of those who struggle for the barest of human dignity.
The 2011 Peace NOW! Spirit Music Festival was an overwhelming success, attracting twelve phenomenal acts and celebrity attention from Renn Woods (Roots, The Wiz) and Bobbee Zeno (KPFK-FM Radio).
As we move into 2012, we know this year's Festival is truly 'Open at the Top' and an ever expanding source of good on the world.

The 2011 Peace NOW! Spirit Music Festival is proud to partner with CAST, the Coalition to Abolish Slavery and Trafficking.
.Based in Los Angeles, CAST remains the only organization in the country to offer social services, shelter, and legal services to victims of the modern day slave trade.
